以刊载国内外学者在大地构造及成矿学方面的最新研究成果为主要任务，以促进国内外地学学术交流，推动地球科学研究，活跃学术思想，为我国国民经济建设服务为目的。坚持党的基本路线，提倡“双百”方针，俱容并包不同学术观点和派别的论文，同时又具有鲜明的特色。
Tenet of the journal：The journal aims at publication of the newest research achievements in geotectonics and metallogeny and intends to push forward the academic exchange in geosciences between China and foreign countries, to facilitate geoscientific research, to flourish academic thinking, and to render better service toward the national economic construction in China. Still, the journal will insist on adhering to the basic policies of the CPC and the guidelines set for encouraging different academic opinions and viewpoints while retaining its own characteristics.

| 国际化前景 |
(1)本刊定位于国际性期刊，从稿件源到编委会组成、再到编排格式等，力求与国际接轨；(2)本刊创始人、已故前任主编陈国达院士所创立的活化构造理论(地洼学说)被列为世界科学史的大事之一，得到国际地学界的广泛应用与认同，具有很高的国际学术地位和影响。陈国达院士曾任国际地科联矿床成因协会矿床大地构造委员会副主席、《构造岩浆活化(地洼)学组》主席、国际地洼构造与成矿研究中心主席。
Internationalization perspectives: (1) This journal is orientated as an international journal, which is characterized by the sources of manuscript submission, the composition of the editorial committee and the format of its editing and publication; (2) Academician CHEN Guoda, the editor-in-chief of this journal, founded the tectonic activization theory (namely geodepression theory or diwa theory), which was listed as one of the major events in international geosciences history and has been extensively recognized and applied in the international geoscientists community. For this Academician Chen has enjoyed a prestigious academic status and acquired a very influential place in the international geoscientists community. Mr. Chen once acted as the Vice Chairman of IAGOD/CTOD, Chairman of the Working Group 4 on Tectono-Magmatic Activization (Diwa) of IAGOD/CTOD and the President of International Research Center For Diwa Tectonics and metallogeny.

Major contents of publication: This journal will put emphasis on the publication of original and innovative academic papers as well as small amount of research reviews that are forward looking and on the leading edge of the related disciplines, but will generally reject general articles of summarizing nature.
